Birchmere Care Home was added to Avery Healthcare’s portfolio in March 2017 and is now undergoing a transitional phase while the high standards for which Avery is known are set in place.

The home is set on edge of the Copt Heath Golf Club to the south of Solihull in the West Midlands and is within easy reach of the M42.

Avery’s staff realise that era in life when changes are inevitable and independence is lessened can be stressful if not handled carefully, and they are therefore committed to giving those under their care active and fulfilled lives in a relaxed and caring environment. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and are encouraged to bring their personal belongings and keepsakes with them to their new home. All bedrooms are furnished and come with a walk-in shower, television and telephone points.

The ground-floor bistro is a focal point of the home. Here residents can share a cup of coffee, have a natter and meet their visitors. There are lounges where activities take place – word games are a favourite and there is often quite a bit of brain exercise around the giant Scrabble board. The strains of the grand piano can often be heard either played by a resident or a visiting entertainer.
The surrounding gardens offer spots for enjoying the summer sun, relaxing with a book or cup of tea or just watching the world go by. The home’s minibus takes residents out on trips — shopping is a favourite.

All our food is cooked on the premises, fresh, locally sourced where possible and follows the seasons. We take pride over our presentation as we do over the three nutritional and balanced meals a day. Chef likes nothing better than dishing up special treats for birthdays and anniversaries and devising culinary delights for our themed evenings. The mocktails at the recent Caribbean evening proved very popular.
